Pro-Choice

If you’re like most Missourians, you’ve been shocked by the Missouri legislature’s passage of radical anti-choice legislation. It’s clear that the legislators in Jefferson City aren’t listening to the voices of the people of Missouri.

Our aim is to show the Missouri legislature that we won’t just oppose legislators that want to strip away our reproductive freedom – but that we’ll actively fund legislators who value our right to choose. We think of it as a carrot-and-stick approach. (Hey, if it works with six-year-olds, it will probably work with lawmakers.)

While we may not be officially affiliated with Planned Parenthood Advocates of Missouri or NARAL, we agree wholeheartedly with their mission and recognize them as the experts on this issue in Missouri. So we define our Pro Choice nominees as those Democratic nominees for Missouri legislature that have earned an endorsement from either organization.

For the women of Missouri to have access to safe, legal and accessible reproductive health services, we need a Pro-Choice legislature. It Starts Today Missouri’s Pro-Choice project provides funding to every Pro-Choice Democratic nominee for state legislature.

Contributions are to IST-MO PC Nominee PAC Number One (90%), the stated purpose of which is to make contributions, in equal amounts, directly to pro-choice Democratic nominees for Missouri state legislature and It Starts Today Missouri (10%) which will use the funds cover costs of vetting pro-choice nominees, administration and, most importantly, filing compliance reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

IST-MO PC Nominee PAC Number One will be the sole arbiter of what constitutes a pro-choice nominee. That said, beginning in 2018, we defined a pro-choice nominee as as any Democratic nominee that is on either the Planned Parenthood Advocates of Missouri or NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri endorsement lists. We will continue that practice in 2020.
